Becoming a Belgian :)

Day 2!

Well, it is actually my first day doing activities in Belgium :)

Today I went to Dinant and Brussels. I am sure you know Brussels, but what about Dinant? Dinant was actually awesome! It is a small city with a river and famous castle (Citadelle), but the view was breathtaking even though it was raining that day. What if it was not raining? Daebakk!

To start with, you only need around 2 hours to finish Dinant and everything is reachable by foot. Almost all attractions are across the river. The first you will find might be the cathedral. The Citadelle is right behind that cathedral.  Citadelle is on a hill, you can either walk up (they have stairs) or take their cable car (of course I took this, hehe, since it's out of charge). I am also lucky enough that they are having Disney Sands Magic exhibition inside Citadelle, so then I went for sure! It was pretty, I love the details as much as I love disney ♡ To get into Citadelle you need to pay €8; they also have combined ticket with Sands Magic and it costs €11.

After I had lunch at Dinant, I headed to Brussels. Brussels is a big city in Belgium, as I expected, there were thousands of tourists. When we reached Brussels, the first thing we're looking for is Belgian Waffle! Yeay! 😋😋 We had one at a crowded store near the Brussels-Central station. It was awesome! We don't really want to spend much time for sight-seeing, so we only visited popular attractions, such as Grand-Place and Manneken Pis. They are all free to visit. Actually, I expected the Manneken Pis to be bigger.. Haha. But it's still cute! Then, for the rest of the time, we shopped! 😜 I got some discounted yet tasty Belgian chocolates. 😍

This should sum up my day 2 vacation. See you peeps! ♡

Easter is a Happy Holiday ♡

Hi peeps, how are you? :)

Btw, Happy Good Friday and Happy Easter for those celebrating!

Today was my first day of Easter holiday, and I went to Belgium! Wohoo! Yes, so now I am in Belgium, to be precise in Louvain. I decided to stay here because I have a relative here and so I can stay with her for few days.

I didn't do anything today, it was just a 6-hours journey in the train. I took TGV train from Lausanne to Paris Gare de Lyon. Then, I need to move to Paris Nord and continue my journey to Bruxelles with Thalys train. Well, I know flight would be much faster, but I decided to take train because the flight ticket (remember today is Easter) is so damn expensive!! :(

Ah before I forgot, since I decided to take train, I am using Interrail Pass (www.interrail.eu) cos I am a Switzerland resident. However, for you non-EU citizen, you have to use Eurail Pass (www.eurail.eu). These passes allow you to travel in Europe for certain days in certain period. Check out their websites for further informations since they have various choices. I got the "10 days within 22 days" Global Pass that costs me EUR 239. It does not have to be 10 consecutive days, so it is convenient! I recommended you to use this if you plan to travel to many cities and/or countries around Europe :)

Back to the story, I arrived at Leuven at around 7.30pm and met my cousin there. Then, she brought us to buy some foods for dinner, Belgian "street foods"! It's actually the famous Belgian fries (or frites) with other fries thingy. She said that this is students' foods because it is good and affordable, and this is so true! 3 of us got full with only €12! 😁 (I wish Switzerland has this kinda food 😂)

Trip to the Outside World.

Bonjour! (Hello!)
This will be my first post outside Asia... Wow!! I'm now in Switzerland for my exchange study :) I am studying at EPFL in Lausanne city. I really hope this will be fun! ;)

Fine, let's start this!
Fyi, I left Hong Kong in January 25th, 2015 with one friend. I took a plane of course...and it's Emirates. I'm so lucky that I got a student discount, so it's not asexpensive as the normal price and I got bigger capacity for my baggage (35 kgs). I really recommend Emirates if you wish to travel faraway. The plane is pretty big so you have more spaces, at least for your leg :p Their service is also great! The staffs are all friendly and quick.

Back to my story...
My flight was a 17 hours journey, from HK to Dubai then to Geneva. I need to stop at Dubai for 3 hours, so it was 20 hours in total. Well, this was my first time on such a long flight, yes it was so tiring!
I arrived at Geneva at noon.. but I still needed to take train to Lausanne. It was tough, especially with 13 & 32 kgs luggage :(
But, I'm here now safe & sound :)

I'm gonna write most of my journey and life here in Switzerland and Europe, so keep going and check my blog!

Au revoir! (See you!)

ps : I'm learning French. Yeah!!!
